Injury Care Coordination
Lost work time resulting from an injury can create financial hardships for both employers and employees. At
Baptist Health Occupational Medicine, our goal is to assist companies in decreasing lost work time. We won't rush an employee back to work before he or she is ready; however, getting a person back to work -- helping them be productive again is the "best medicine" for both employee and employer.

Baptist Health Occupational Medicine offers care for minor injuries through our Baptist Health Occupational Medicine Clinic, located at Baptist Health Paducah in Doctors Office Building 1.  Baptist Health Occupational Medicine is staffed by experienced occupational medicine practitioners, and provides an on-site laboratory, X-ray services and EKG tests to help quickly and accurately diagnose minor medical problems.  After hours coverage, as well as care for more serious injuries, is provided through our Prime Care Center and Baptist Health Paducah.

Our staff will assist in all areas of work-related injury, including follow-up on your employee/patient as follows:

  • Frequent communication with employee/patient
  • Frequent communication with employer by telephone and written reports
  • Communication with treating physicians, referral sources and claims payers
  • Assistance with workers' compensation claims
  • Expediting employee's appropriate return to work

Physical Evaluation Program
A good, healthy work force starts by fitting the employee to the right job. A physical examination can give the employer the information needed to provide a safe and healthy environment for employees. Our physicians are qualified to perform Department of Transportation (DOT) physicals, as well as many other types of post-offer and job-specific exams. Plus, your company representative can schedule appointments when he or she needs them and receive prompt results. In many cases, results come back to you on the very same day as the examination. Some types of physicals are:

  • Preplacement
  • DOT
  • Executive
  • Respirator
  • Merchant Mariner
  • Return to work

Physical Therapy and Work Hardening
For workers with certain types of injuries or chronic disorders, access to appropriate physical therapy and rehabilitation can be the difference between a speedy transition back to work or months -- even years -- of unproductive convalescence. Recovery time can further be reduced by participation in a job-specific physical therapy regimen, professionally designed to reinforce physical skills associated with particular job responsibilities.

As part of our continuum of care,
Baptist Health Occupational Medicine offers industrial rehabilitation and physical therapy services where injured workers can regain the proficiency, strength, flexibility and dexterity needed to ply their trades. Treatment focuses on education, rehabilitation, management of symptoms and future prevention. Customized physical therapy programs can include:

  • Post-injury rehabilitation
  • Educational programs
  • Work hardening programs
  • Ergonomic assessments
  • Physical demand screens, a job-specific screening to determine an employee's physical ability to perform a job
  • Fit-for-duty screens
